Breeding the next step!

You’ve breed your female to the stud of great reputation and verified that she is pregnant. Now it’s time to decide what type of birth method you will use! When making this decision between C-section and Natural many arguments are made so you seek out advice from your veterinarian. Who put the ball clearly on you, it’s day 49 of an 63 day cycle so it decision time or is it?

Let me give you some context, I’ve been breeding dogs for the pass 30 years with the last 3 years being bulldogs. So a have a like bit of experience and have seen some things that are best left unspoken! I keep my ear to the ground trying to pickup little tidbits here and there, but the automatic c-section for bulldogs has me a little baffled. I’ve had 8 litters in 3 years with only 2 c-section with 85 to 90 percent puppy survival rate. So with this said I find myself in a dilemma of how do I proceed with my next 2 litters due soon?

Popular opinion for my breed is get a C-section!

Reasons given:

Heads too big to be to go through the birth canal.

Females are too lazy to complete the birthing process.

Puppies are just too big!

We don’t have the time to spend waiting for puppies to be born.

It's irresponsible to not do a c-section with this breed and the chance of having a water puppy.

C-section is safer for the mom and puppies!

you get an accurate report from your veterinarian on the health of your female uterus!

your veterinarian is present to help you make the hard decision when something goes wrong!

Natural birth!

Mom and puppies have connection sooner!

It’s a great experience for you and your female!

No drugs given that can harm both mom and puppies!

Oxytocin produce naturally occurring when puppies nurse.

the out-of-pocket costs are considerably lower!

When considering the method of birth for your mom to have her litter “Think of your mom and puppies' health!

After much thought and consideration, I let 1 of female give birth naturally and the other have a c-section! since then I've had all my females have c-section because to see more puppies survive is a great feeling! Whelping a litter of Bulldogs is hard enough without 12-24 hours of helping your mama dog give birth.
